God has been working in the lives of many in CMDFWA. We would love for you to join us in celebration and thanksgiving at our Inaugural CMDFWA Thanksgiving Dinner. Our guest speakers include Dr George O’Neil, addiction specialist and pioneer of the Fresh Start Recovery Programme, and Dr Judy Fitzmaurice, chairperson of CMDFA National. We would also like to praise God for the new graduates in our fellowship. It will be a night of delicious Asian food, celebration and inspiration as we look ahead to what God will do in our fellowship in the coming years.

In our Western view of healthcare we may find expressing faith in practice difficult, with no guidelines as to what is acceptable practice and what is best for the well-being of our patients that are entrusted to our care.

International Saline is a course that has been developed by IHS, a team of international Christian medical organisations*. The aim of this 1 day course is to equip healthcare professionals to approach their patients as spiritual beings & bring a compassionate, non-confrontational Christian witness. It incorporates upfront teaching, case studies, group discussion & personal reflection. We will look at secular research data linking spirituality to health outcomes, what God calls us to in his Word & discuss professional boundaries & other concerns. We will learn skills for encouraging patients to talk about their faith history & ways we can communicate hope to them. This will be a great opportunity to learn together, think together & share your experiences, whether you’re brand new or an experienced healthcare professional.

About our Presenter
Michael Burke has been a member of CMDFA since his student days & is currently the NSW state chairperson. He is married to Jean & has 3 sons who are nearly teenagers. He graduated from the University of Sydney MBBS in 1986. Michael holds other degrees in health related sciences, completing his PhD in 2010. He has served as a missionary in Tanzania for 12 years. Michael enjoys travelling, writing, and is passionate about health and development issues. He finds it a great privilege & good fun facilitating the International Saline course.
